The first record of The New Inn
was in 1832. This ale house was an extension of Samuel Ford's well established local
butchery. The Ford family held the licence for 78 years and the premises were
finally sold in 1910. The New Inn was permitted to stay open as long as it
could provide accommodation with an empty bed at all times. This was the same
for all Inns until the 1970’s when this rule was revoked and an Inn no longer had to provide accommodation.
On the 14th June 2007 Tania D
Jones took over the tenancy with Admiral Taverns later to be joined in
partnership by Keith Wellings. Many critics have exclaimed that The New Inn has
been transformed into an excellent "oldie worldly" country pub with a
contemporary newly- furnished restaurant, offering a range of menus.
Should you be so inclined, on
a chilly evening, you can cosy up next to a large open log fire with friendly
atmosphere and a drink in hand. Yet on a warm summer’s evening you can sit upon
the particularly lovely decking or explore the beautiful garden grounds, which
are home to The New Inn’s large children’s play area and the Shetland pony,
Black Jack, chickens and rabbits, for everyone to enjoy.
After a light lunch you may want
to spend some time in the surrounding countryside and relax with a walk through
nearby Shrawley Woods, enjoying the splendour of this superbly scenic part of
rural Worcestershire.
Well-behaved dogs are always
welcome inside and outside of the bar area, and there is an outside sheltered
heated smoking area and large car park for all customers of The New Inn.
Indeed, the New Inn has
stayed strong to its traditional, welcoming atmosphere and a friendly smile
always greets you here by Keith, Tania and all the staff.
The New Inn is a place where you can enjoy home-cooked food, real ales and fine wines. It's particularly worth a visit if you appreciate the peace and quiet of the beautiful Worcestershire countryside.
