The first record of The New Inn was in 1832.

This ale house was an extension of Samuel Ford's well established local butchery.

The Ford family held the licence for 78 years and the premises were finally sold in 1910.

The New Inn was permitted to stay open as long as it could provide accommodation with an empty bed at all times.

This was the same for all Inns until the 1970’s when this rule was revoked and an Inn no longer had to provide accommodation.
